  • Why Blue Star Nomads?

    Easy, let’s break it down.

    Why Blue Star?
A “Blue Star Family” refers to immediate relatives of an active-duty U.S. military member.
Our son Will is a proud United States Marine Parachute Rigger serving overseas in Okinawa, Japan. He enlisted in February 2025, completed boot camp in May 2025, and has been in Japan since February 2026. While we miss him very much, we are so proud of his decision to serve his country.

    Why Nomads?
In 2019 (before the pandemic), we moved our (then) 2 teens and 3 dogs into a 29ft 5th wheel. While the teens are out and the 5th has grown, we’re still loving the tiny nomadic lifestyle. This lifestyle has afforded us opportunities that a regular stick-and-bricks setup could never offer. So far, we’ve traveled to 13 states and have plans for many more.

  • Who are the Blue Star Nomads?

Meet the Runyans! We’re Jenn and Jason, and we’ve been married for 12 1/2 years. We have a his and hers “Brady Bunch” 6 kids, yes, 3 boys and 3 girls. We’re proud Gma and Gpa to 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. We’ve been living the nomadic life for 7 years. We both work full-time remote, Jason’s in tech for a big firm, and Jenn sells cruises for a travel agency (looking to sail? let her know!)

We prioritize experiences over things, which is why the tiny lifestyle is the perfect fit. When Jenn’s not barefoot on the beach with a camera in her hand, we enjoy hiking, exploring new towns with fascinating histories, and visiting botanical gardens and museums. We also love hunting Dambo Trolls! Our two dogs, Baxter & Sabine, keep life fairly interesting at home. If we’re not outside exploring, we’re likely at home reading, cooking, or hanging out around the campfire.
